PROF. DR. ALPER KAYA
Prof. Dr. Alper Kaya
completed his medical education at Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine and received his neurosurgery residency training at Şişli Etfal Training and Research Hospital, Department of Neurosurgery (1991–1997).
Since 1999, he has continued his academic and clinical work at the Şişli Etfal Training and Research Hospital, Department of Neurosurgery, where he was awarded the title of Associate Professor of Neurosurgery in June 2008. During this period, he carried out advanced academic and practical studies in microsurgery and spine surgery in Germany and the Netherlands at various times.
Between 2010 and 2018, he served as Head of the Department of Brain and Neurosurgery at MedicalPark Hospitals Group Bahçelievler, while simultaneously continuing his academic activities within the university structure.
In 2014, he was promoted to Professor at Istanbul Altınbaş University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Neurosurgery, and between 2013 and 2018, he served as Head of the Department of Brain and Neurosurgery at the same faculty.
His academic areas of expertise include brain and spinal cord tumors, pediatric neurosurgery, skull base surgery, degenerative spine diseases, spinal deformities and scoliosis, and spinal fusion surgery. In particular, the original surgical techniques he developed for lumbar spinal fusion surgeries, along with his experimental research in this field, have been published in international peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Since July 2018, he has been working as a freelance physician in his own private practice.
